Sickle Cell and Stigma.

For sickle cell sufferers, am pretty sure it is not a laughing matter at all; this issue of stigma. But I can’t help thinking that this problem is what it is because a lot of sufferers of this condition don’t talk openly about it therefore turning this stigma thing into some kind of an acceptable norm. Yes, very challenging condition to live with but, seriously people, you haven’t committed any crime by being born with a genetic condition. So why are you hiding your head in the sand? Talk, talk, talk, talk. Speak up. Let your voice be heard. This is the only way you can start changing society’s views about sickle cell. So get involved; get the debate going.
